ACCESS Support Group
With Marie Adams, PhD and Student Disability Services Staff
The ACCESS Support Group is designed to help students experiencing chronic physical and mental health concerns have a space to experience advocacy for co-occurring conditions and to help them establish skills and support on campus. Topics can include ways to better understanding a diagnosis, learn how to embrace and communicate with others about it, how to develop and maintain any accommodations plans, how to advocate for yourself while going through a life transition with your health. We can also talk about ways to better communicate with professors, build friendships, and talk to your partner, family, or friends regarding your physical or mental health concerns, how to manage symptom flares, learn self-soothing and self-compassion skills, develop a self-care routine, and more.
This support group is co-facilitated by staff from University Counseling Services and Student Disability Services.
Day/Time: Every Tuesday, 3–4 p.m.
How to join: Come in person to the SDS office conference room and/or join us virtually (https://uiowa.zoom.us/j/93559081347, Meeting ID: 935 5908 1347)
